Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who rose to fame in Telugu cinema with films like Krack, Nandi, and Hanu-Man, is all set to act in an international film. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar makes her Hollywood debut.
The renowned actress in Tamil/Telugu plays a crucial role alongside British actor Jeremy Irons in the international film ‘Rizana – A Caged Bird.’ She said that working with the Academy Award winner felt surreal.

Speaking about the project, Varalakshmi said, “Working with a great actor like Oscar-winning Jeremy Irons has been a dream come true. He gave voice to Scar’s character in The Lion King. I like that movie. I watched so much that all the dialogues would be remembered by my side. It’s a great opportunity for me to act with him, who has now lent his voice to the film.
It is also a matter of pride for me to work under the direction of Chandran Ratnam garu. Not only in Sri Lanka, he is a director who has shown new paths to world cinema. I am happy that I have gotten the opportunity to work with such amazing international stars. This is an unforgettable milestone in my career.”
Varalakshmi Sarathkumar makes her Hollywood debut with ‘Rizana—A Caged Bird.’ Veteran director Chandran Rutnam leads the film, produced by Jagath Sumathipala.
The film is being shot in Sri Lanka and draws inspiration from Rizana Nafeeq’s true story of her beheading in Saudi Arabia for allegedly killing a baby in 2005. Vidushika Reddy stars as Rizana in the film.
