Tollywood has seen a flood of movies this week. The calm and dull winters have started not only in telugu states but also at telugu box office. Despite many releases of small budget movies including Urvashivo Rakshasivo, the numbers these movies are minting at box office are not encouraging.
Movies have literally come out and went without creating any buzz. Inspite of getting good word of mouth, Allu Sirish’s latest movie has failed to recover money. The movie has good cast and produced by Geetha arts, the pre release launch was attended by Nandamuri Balakrishna drew some attention.
However all these positives haven’t paid off. It only collected 1.75 crores by the weekend despite positive reviews and talk, it has to march a long way to reach the breakeven mark from here on. But chances are looking very slim that to happen.
November is generally considered as a sluggish phase in film market in telugu states and this year is no exception. However, the dubbed version of kannada blockbuster Kantara has been dominating these week as well surpassing the new telugu straight films.
The movie is enjoying a dream run in telugu states. This shows that the content at times can bring audiences to theaters though the season is a bit challenging. We have to wait and see if the next week releases could break this trend.
Samantha’s Yashoda movie is slated for next week release and the trailer has already created enough interest in movie-goers. Hope the buzz sustains and bring audiences back to theaters and put profits in the pockets of exhibitors and distributors.
