Title issues for Rajinikanth’s Jailer in Mollywood

The upcoming film of Superstar Rajinikanth, Jailer, has gotten into trouble. The reason for it is the film’s title. The title, Jailer, is the main reason why many people believe the film is more than just another mass entertainer with Rajinikanth in the lead role. We know that Rajinikanth is trying out the role of a jailer in the movie for the first time, which has aroused the enthusiasm of his fans. Furthermore, so far, nothing much has been revealed regarding the film’s story. Rajinikanth’s portrayal of a Jailer’s character is a source of great anticipation for the film.

Now, the makers of a Malayalam movie have come forward, demanding that the Nelson Dilipkumar’s film should change its title, at least in Kerala.

Well, to put it out clear, even if Jailer does get a title change, it would only be in the state of Kerala. This is because, around the same time as Rajinikanth’s Jailer releases, another Malayalam film with the same title is also coming out. The Malayalam film stars Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead role and is considered to be a regular thriller. Sakkir Madathil and N K Mohammad are the director and producers of the film, respectively.

Even though the stories of both films have no resemblance to one another, the makers of Malayalam Jailer think that the same title will lead to confusion among the general audience.

Sakkir Madathil even held a press conference at which he identified this as a serious problem. He also said they had contacted Sun Pictures, the production company of the Rajinikanth’s film. But Sakkir shared with the media that the creators of the Tamil film are still willing to keep the title alive, even if it is in Kerala.
