Thug Life ban threat: Kamal Haasan moves court

Former KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu warned of intensified protests if no apology is made. “We have no sympathy for Kamal Haasan. If he does not issue a public apology today or tomorrow, we will support Kannada activists and will protest fiercely. Under no circumstances will we allow the film’s release unless he apologizes publicly,” he asserted. The anger among the Kannada public arose from Kamal Haasan's recent remark during a Thug Life promotional event, in which he asserted that

Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan and Simbu is slated for release on June 5th worldwide. The film has been surrounded by a controversy started by Kamal Haasan with his speech in the Audio Launch event. He stated that Kannada had taken its birth out of Tamil, and this caused a stir on social media platforms. The Kannada Activist groups and Kannada Film Personalities also banned Thug Life’s release in Karnataka.

Now, Kamal Haasan is said to have approached the High Court of Karnataka and appealed for the smooth release of Thug Life in the state. The Karnataka Film Chamber has officially given him the time of 24 hours to apologize for his comments. They stated that if he fails, then the film will not be released in Karnataka.

This move of Kamal Haasan to approach the Court is not appropriate. Whatever the decision the court declares, there will be no change in this ban decision because it depends on the Theatre management, which does not seem to screen the film unless Kamal Haasan apologizes. The Actor surely made a big mess with this attitude and statements. It also feels illogical that he didn’t understand the situation yet.
