‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Hassan has made a grand comeback into the foray of commercial cinema with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram (2022). The film’s commercial success revived his diminished market among distributors, satellites, and streaming partners. Basking in its success, he has signed to appear in not one but three films in the same year.
First and foremost is Nag Ashwin’s epic sci-fi drama ‘Kalki: 2898 AD’. Starring ‘Rebel Star’ Prabhas in the lead role, it is slated for release in June this year. Hassan is reportedly the film’s antagonist and will have a cameo appearance.
Next up is Shankar’s vigilante thriller ‘Indian-2’. A sequel to the 1996 film Indian, it also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Siddharth, Vivek, and Kajal Agarwal. And the last one is, of course, Mani Rathnam’s action drama film ‘Thug Life’. With music composed by A. R. Rahman, it is expected to hit screens in the last month of 2024.
