Released in 2023, Adipurush brought a lot of criticism for Prabhas, and the same kind of response is getting repeated for his latest film, The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. These two films received backlash from a majority section of audiences in the actor’s filmography.
Om Raut, who made Adipurush, faced huge backlash for the wrong portrayal of the Ramayana. The same situation is happening with The Raja Saab as well. The director, production house, and Prabhas are once again receiving heavy criticism.
From a box office perspective, The Raja Saab is a much bigger failure than Adipurush, as the latter opened well in both Hindi and Telugu, performed strongly over the weekend, and then saw a drop. Still, it managed to collect more than ₹350 crore gross worldwide.
On the other hand, The Raja Saab did not get any significant opening in Hindi. In Telugu, it opened well but failed to maintain momentum, even during festival days. The film is expected to close at around ₹200 crore gross, which is just about 60% of Adipurush collections. Even in Telugu, Adipurush collected 10% more than The Raja Saab.
Fans are unhappy with Prabhas because he is currently on an exciting journey with Salaar, Kalki Successes and Spirit, Kalki 2, and Fauji in the pipeline. In the middle of this promising phase, The Raja Saab has come as a big setback.
