The Raja Saab OTT Rights Sold

The Raja Saab, which has discussed multiple OTT platforms for the rights, is said to have finally locked a deal with Jio Hotstar for a high price. This also marks the first pan-Indian film and the biggest film from Tollywood that Jio Hotstar has bought until now.

Prabhas’ The Raja Saab is all set to be released in theaters worldwide on January 9th, and the latest news is that the film’s OTT rights have been sold. There were some rumors about the film’s digital business, but they have been cleared now.

For any film, especially for a big-budget film, the OTT business is playing a crucial role these days. The makers are spending the budgets by estimating a default recovery with OTT rights. However, when the calculation goes wrong, movies face financial troubles.

The Raja Saab, which has discussed multiple OTT platforms for the rights, is said to have finally locked a deal with Jio Hotstar for a high price. This also marks the first pan-Indian film and the biggest film from Tollywood that Jio Hotstar has bought until now.

Previously, Jio Hotstar acquired the rights to People Media Factory’s film, Mirai, with successful results. This should provide some relief to The Raja Saab team as well. The film’s satellite rights are reportedly held by the Star group.

Regarding the film’s theatrical release, the team needs to step up promotional efforts. The first song didn’t perform as anticipated, and with only a month until release, the makers have been quiet.

As it is a pan-India film, Maruthi and the team must intensify their promotional efforts to generate buzz in all languages.
