The most awaited film, the mythological drama Adipurush of Prabhas and Om Raut is released today and the film is getting mixed response from the audience and critics as well. The film has done massive business, and it needs positive word of mouth to get the required numbers at the box office, but much to the dismay of fans and the film unit, the film opened to negative response. The main drawback and biggest negative of the film is the over dependence on VFX by the director Om Raut.
We know that Ramayanam is all about ethics, values, powerful characters, situations with heavy emotions and Drama. But all these were missing from the film. The main drawback of Adipurush is putting only action episode in the entire second half, which left many events without being narrated. Also, the war sequences were so badly designed with poor VFX and terrible setup of Raavan and Lanka Kingdom.
It never looked like an Indian movie or a part of history. The getup and creatures looked like a cheap imitation of Hollywood’s DC, Marvel franchise. This unnecessary experiment with the world of Lanka has made the audience disconnected from the film.
Therefore, the director of the film Om Raut failed completely to establish the strong characterizations and emotions regarding the lead cast. There was a lot of scope for drama and emotions in Adipurush but Om Raut has chosen another way by completely depending on the VFX.
