Music composer Thaman has been officially locked as the music director for Mega 158, the second collaboration between Megastar Chiranjeevi and director Bobby. The makers announced the confirmation today, putting an end to months of speculation about who would helm the musical department.
From AR Rahman to Thaman
There were several names in consideration for Mega 158‘s music, including AR Rahman who was earlier reported to be on board before budget cuts led to a change. Ultimately, Thaman has secured the project, marking his continuation with Bobby after Daaku Maharaaj.
Bobby-Thaman Reunion
Bobby is continuing his partnership with Thaman following their collaboration on Daaku Maharaaj, the Balakrishna starrer that released last year. The Bobby-Thaman combination proved successful with that film’s album and background score.
Choosing Thaman Over DSP
Interestingly, even though Devi Sri Prasad delivered a blockbuster album for Waltair Veerayya — Bobby and Chiranjeevi‘s previous collaboration — the director has chosen to go with Thaman for Mega 158. This decision reflects Bobby’s confidence in Thaman’s ability to deliver mass appeal music.
Bigger Canvas for Thaman
Thaman previously worked with Chiranjeevi for Godfather, which was not a proper commercial film and didn’t offer scope for regular mass songs. Now, with Mega 158 being touted as a grand action entertainer, Thaman will have the opportunity to compose hero elevation songs and high-energy mass numbers.
The Bobby-directed mafia don drama promises intense action sequences that will benefit from Thaman’s trademark powerful background score. Shooting for the film is currently underway, and fans can expect the first single announcement soon.
