The winners of the 68th National Film Awards were announced today at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. While there was mostly a diversity in terms of winners, Suriya’s Soorarai Pootru and Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji bagged home the majority of awards.
Soorarai Pootru bagged plenty of national awards including Best Feature Film, Best Actress, Best Music as well as Best Actor. While Ajay Devgn also won the best actor for his role of Tanhaji in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
Coming to the meat of the awards, Suriya and Ajay Devgn shared the best actor award for their jaw-dropping performances in their respective films. There is absolutely no doubt that Suriya deserves this award as he completely lived his role as Nedumaaran.
Suriya absolutely shook the audience with his performance and carried the film on his shoulders. He made the audience cry, laugh, and rejoice along with him in his journey. Suriya has been in good form lately and we hope this trend continues.
It also cannot be denied that Ajay Devgn absolutely shined in his role as the fierce Tanhaji. His performance brought the audiences into theatres and Tanhaji became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. This is Ajay’s 3rd award for best actor after Zakhm and The Legend of Bhagat Singh.
Coming to the other awardees, Thaman won the award for Best Music Director for his chartbuster album Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
