Movie: Skanda
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Ram Pothineni, Sree Leela, Saiee Manjrekar, Srikanth
Director: Boyapati Sreenu
Produced By: Srinivasa Chitturi
Release Date: 28th September 2023
Story: The Telangana Chief Minister’s Son takes away the daughter of Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister from her marriage as they are both in love. This Incident sparks a fuel between the two CM’s. Meanwhile, a young man (Ram Pothineni) comes into the city and befriends Telangana CM’s daughter (Sree Leela). But he has a plan behind this. What is his plan? Does it have any connection with Rudrakanti Ramakrishna Raju (Srikanth) who is about to be hanged in Jail? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
Performances: Ram Pothineni looked good in a massy role, and he has donned two getups. While he was able to carry the heavy action episodes and uttered some punch dialogues, a little more weightage in the character would have provided him the scope to perform. Sree Leela was just limited to a few Scenes and songs, while Saiee Manjrekar too had a limited scope. Srikanth was apt while Daggubati Raja, Sharath Lohithaswa, Ajay Purkar, Prince and others were ok.
Positives:
- Ram – Sree Leela’s Energy and dances
- Action Sequences
- Family Drama in the Second Half
Negatives:
- Flat Narration
- Routine Twists
- Zero Emotional Impact
- Bad Music
Verdict:
Skanda is a routine action entertainer that provides nothing new, but it can be a watchable fare for mass movie lovers. Ram Pothineni’s screen presence, high-octane action sequences and a bit of drama work for the film, while overboard sentiment, predictable taking and bad music work against it.
