Tollywood celebrities have slowly started moving into politics now. The much celebrated actor, Pawan Kalyan established a political party and ventured into politics. Few celebrities have openly stood with him and now many seem to be following them. Pawan Kalyan went into an alliance with TDP and won the election in Andhra Pradesh recently. Things have changed quickly afterwards. Nag Ashwin, the director of Kalki 2898 AD has now taken a direct political stand to everyone’s surprise.
Recently we saw Noted and Oscar Award winner MM Keeravaani taking a direct politcal stand by making comments against former CM, Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party. Now Nag Ashwin too has joined with Keeravaani by uttering same words. The director interacted with press reporters today and expressed happiness over TDP winning in Andhra Pradesh directly. He told that they became ecstatic when the party won in the election. He replied to a question about the situation if TDP had lost the election. Nag Ashwin’s recent directorial, Kalki 2898 AD enjoyed a massive ticket price hike and thereby the film is performing stunningly.
This looks very unfortunate. A film Industry which usually maintains a neutral stand has become a mere political affialiated Industry. We have to see how many celebrities in the future would come forward to speak even more grossly and openly about politics. Such a situation has never occurred in any film Industry in Indian film history.
