RRR is on a roll, winning prestigious awards of American film fraternity. As we know maverick director SS Rajamouli won best director award for RRR of the prestigious NY Film Critics Circle. Just within days, it achieved another rare feat by winning Atlanta Film Critics Circle award for the year 2022.
The movie has won the best International Picture award for the year 2022 facing a stiff competition from movies across the world. The movie was well received by critics, movie lovers in the USA. The nerve wracking action, fierce dance number, melodrama, anti colonialism as the theme impressed the movie lovers especially action genre fans.
Directed by SS Rajamouli and starring the two Telugu superstars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, RRR has hugely impressed the western audience and critics. The period-action extravaganza continues its victory march and by winning the Atlanta Film Critics Circle awards, it has strengthened the chances of RRR picking up multiple nominations at the 95th Academy Awards next year, which will be presented next year on March 12.
Generally Indian movies rarely go beyond NRIs or people from an Indian origin at the USA box office. However, due to Netflix, the film got a wider reach, which made the film to be an international hit, especially in the USA. It has been in the top non English movie position for many weeks.
The movie is also creating a great buzz in Japan, emerging as the biggest Indian movie ever there. This is quite a recognition for Indian cinema, and Rajamouli has really pushed the envelope and put Telugu cinema on a global map.
