What really happened in Bairanpally?

Even after India gained independence, the Hyderabad State was still under the rule of the Nizam. During this time, the Telangana Armed Struggle began against Nizam’s rule.

To protect themselves, the villagers of Bairanpally rebuilt the village watchtower (buruju), trained themselves, and bravely resisted the attacks of the Razakars.

As a cruel act of revenge, on August 17, 1948, the Nizam’s army and the Razakars attacked the village. Hundreds of villagers were lined up and shot dead. It is believed that around 116 to 118 innocent villagers lost their lives in this brutal massacre.

Champion is releasing this Friday and is expected to be one of the best films of the year, both in terms of strong content and box office performance.
