Rashmika Mandanna’s transformation into M.S. Subbulakshmi appears to have well and truly begun. The actress doesn’t merely resemble the legendary Carnatic vocalist in these pictures; she seems to have immersed herself in her appearance, from the sarees and hairstyle to the jewellery and makeup. The attention to detail is already creating curiosity around her portrayal.
Rashmika has taken on a wide variety of roles throughout her career, but she is equally known for her glamorous image both on and off screen. Her performances in Sukumar’s Pushpa films, in particular, came with a generous dose of glamour. Now, the actress is taking on one of the most challenging roles of her career — portraying M.S. Subbulakshmi, one of India’s most revered musical icons.
Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, MS – A Legacy On Screen was officially launched in September, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music. From her neatly tied bun and traditional jewellery to her vibrant sarees and carefully recreated appearance, Rashmika already seems to be breathing life into the legend. The transformation is bound to invite comparisons with Keerthy Suresh’s acclaimed portrayal of Savitri in Mahanati, widely regarded as a benchmark for Indian biographical cinema.
