Actress Rakul Preet Singh, who was recently seen in De De Pyaar De 2 alongside Ajay Devgn, revealed that the big failure of Spyder (starring Mahesh Babu) had a major impact on her career and broke her expectations.
In 2017, Mahesh Babu teamed up with director A.R. Murugadoss for the first time with Spyder, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film featuring Rakul as the female lead. Like many fans, she believed the actor-director combination would deliver a massive success. However, the film failed at the box office and did not meet expectations.
Rakul admitted that the setback affected her because, until then, she had enjoyed continuous success in Telugu cinema, working with stars like Ram Charan and NTR. She made her Telugu debut with Venkatadri Express, which was a superhit, and from there she built a strong career with back-to-back films alongside leading heroes.
After Spyder, however, she did not get offers with star heroes or big projects. Instead, she appeared in films like Manmadhudu 2, Check, and Kondapolam, all of which failed to impress audiences.
As a result, Rakul’s career in Telugu cinema slowed down significantly, and she has not acted in any Telugu films in the past three to four years.
