Pushpa 2 became a sensational blockbuster worldwide grossing more than 1800 crores. But the film suffered a big disappointment in Kerala with the Malayalam version not performing well. The film did pretty well in Telugu, decent in Tamil, and superb in Hindi. The popularity of Allu Arjun in Kerala didn’t help the film’s fate surprisingly.
From the opening Day, it started with a disappointing trend and opened with under-level expectations. It crashed on Day 2 itself ending up with around 18 crores gross shockingly. But Baahubali 2 and KGF Chapter 2 were able to collect more than 65 crores gross there. This result for Pushpa 2 in Kerala is truly unexpected from the team.
Pushpa 2 had very low word of mouth which could have been the reason for this result. The Distributor also said the same in the Final Success event of the film. He said, ” Pushpa 2 is not a typical Malayalam-styled film, so people might take some to connect with it. We will be bringing it back to the theatres in Kerala with a 3D version.” So, this is very interesting that the Distributors are still confident about Pushpa 2 there.
