Actor Prabhas, who was riding high with back-to-back successes like Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD, faced a major setback with his latest release The Raja Saab, which was directed by Maruthi, and released on January 9 and opened to unanimously negative word of mouth and reviews, disappointing fans and trade alike.
Since the film was released during the Sankranthi festival week, Prabhas fans initially stayed silent despite their disappointment. Many fans avoided posting negative comments during the festive period, believing it could further affect the film’s box office performance. They waited until the festival season ended and the film completed its theatrical run.
The disappointing result of “The Raja Saab” left fans feeling frustrated
After that, frustration began to spill over on social media. Fans started openly questioning Maruthi, asking how a big-budget film failed to reflect its scale on screen. They also raised concerns about the removal of the old getup scenes, logical loopholes, weak mind games, and issues in the story and screenplay.
The criticism was not limited to the director alone. Fans also targeted the production house, Thaman’s music, and the cinematography (DoP work), blaming the entire team for delivering a disappointing product. Many fans felt the technical departments failed to support Prabhas’s image and expectations.
For fans who waited more than one and a half years to see Prabhas on the big screen, the poor result came as a major letdown. The disappointing output by Maruthi has turned into anger, making The Raja Saab one of the most discussed setbacks in Prabhas’s recent career phase.
