Nani’s Ante Sundaraniki was released last Friday with positive reviews and good word of mouth from cine-goers. However, despite the positive feels and a fresh look of the movie, this Vivek Athreya movie has taken a beating at the box office.
Theatrical rights of Ante Sundaraniki are valued at Rs 31Cr and the film has collected around Rs14Cr share on its 1st weekend. The film has failed to create a buzz and started on a very slow note at the box office. The same trend continued for the weekend despite positive talk.
It looks highly unlikely that this Nani-Nazariya starrer will achieve a break-even status. It will require a terrific turnaround in the next few days to recover any losses. However, looking at the current trends, this romantic comedy is on its way to disaster status.
With the poor performance of Ante Sundaraniki, Nani’s search for a solid hit at the box office continues. His last film Shyam Singha Roy received positive talk but ended up an above average grosser. And now the ‘Natural Star’ has pinned all his hopes on his next film ‘Dassara’.
