Kanguva Producer’s Surprising Comments

Suriya starrer fantasy action film Kanguva hit the screens this week to unfavourable reviews and audience talk. The film is one of the most hyped Kollywood movies of the year and the producers decided to take it to a pan-India level with releases in multiple languages. While the film has taken a disastrous start at the box office, the film’s producer’s statements are quite contrasting.

In an interaction with media, KE Gnanavel Raja, the film’s producer has confirmed a Kanguva part 2 and stated that director Siva will immediately start working on Kanguva 2 once his next project with Ajith is wrapped up. Gnanavel Raja further added that Kanguva 2 would be much bigger in scale than its prequel. This declaration has surprised many.

The sound levels of the BGM as well as talkie portions received great criticism for being too loud and the producer confirmed that based on this feedback, the volume will be brought down by one or two points. He added that this sound mixing issue will be sorted tonight.

What surprised many was the producer’s refusal to accept the film’s shortcomings and visibly slow box-office performance. Gnanavel Raja said that apart from the initial 20 minutes, there was no negative feedback from the public. Speaking on the low opening, he clarified that since the film is not a festive release, such an opening was expected but the Kanguva will surely pick up the momentum over weekend.

These apart, he is currently working on his look for the much awaited collaboration with SS Rajamouli for SSMB29. The Actor was also seen in a beard with a long hair as well. Touted to be a Globe-trotting Action Adventure, the film is expected to take off soon in the early 2025.

Thaman confirms his involvement in Pushpa 2

Tollywood Music Director, Thaman has officially confirmed his involvement in Pushpa 2. The film is also one of the most anticipated films of Tollywood. Thaman came in as a replacement of Devi Sri Prasad who scored the music for two songs and for the prequel, Pushpa as well. A fallout has reportedly taken place between the makers of Pushpa 2 and Devi Sri Prasad which prompted them to bring in Thaman.

There were earlier rumours of his involvement being false but they all now became true with his confession. But Thaman has not stated the proper reason for his incoming only to avoid any controversies. He also confirmed the involvement of one more Music Director in the film which was rumoured to be Ajaneesh Lokanath, fame of Kantara.

Both these Music Directors are said to have come onboard to compose the Background Score for the film. It was also speculated that the BGM composed by Devi Sri Prasad was not upto the mark and left the makers unsatisfied. Whatever, this will be an awkward exit for Devi Sri Prasad who rose to great fame with the Music work of Pushpa which also earned him a National Award. Pushpa 2 is slated for release on 5th December.

NBK109 is Daaku Maharaaj; Teaser released

Tollywood Actor, Balakrishna’s upcoming film, NBK109 is officially titled Daaku Maharaaj. The teaser of the film is also released now on YouTube where Balakrishna was seen playing the role of a dacoit. Directed by Bobby, the film is also confirmed to arrive for Sankranthi season next year on 12th January.

The teaser is filled with few baddies ruling over an area and Balakrishna taking on them. Background of the teaser composed by Thaman is resounding and apt to the film’s theme. Bollywood Actor, Bobby Deol plays the lead antagonist role which was also seen in the teaser. The film also stars Shraddha Srinath and Pragya Jaiswal playing the female lead roles.

This will be the first collaboration of both Balakrishna and Director Bobby. The Director scored a big blockbuster last year with Waltair Veerayya starring Chiranjeevi. Now, he will be aiming to repeat the same success with another Veteran Actor of Tollywood.

Kanguva Day 1 box office: Disastrous

The much awaited Suriya starrer Kanguva released today amid great expectations. The film has shockingly received negative reviews and poor word of mouth from both fans and audience. The film is off to a very poor start at the box office. The negative reviews have badly affected the film on the opening day itself making Kanguva Day 1 box office figures as disastrous. Below are the estimated figures.

In Tamil Nadu, Day 1 collections are expected to be in the range of 12 crores. Telugu States make around 6.5 crores with Kerala contributing 4.5 crores. Karnataka and North India provided another 6.5 crores. Overall, All India gross will be in the range of 29 crores and Overseas number will be in the range of $1.3 Million.

The Total Day 1 gross is expected to be in the range of 40 crores worldwide which is very small when compared with the breakeven number of 400 crores. This is considered as a disastrous opening. Day 2 Advance bookings are very poor indicating a bigger disastrous result ahead for the film. There is also no holiday advantage which could save the film.

The wait for a hit still continues for Varun Tej

Tollywood Actor, Varun Tej met the audience with his film, Matka today. The film directed by Karuna Kumar received good buzz before the release but utlimately failed in impressing the audience. Varun Tej and the team pinned high hopes on the film which had a whopping amount of budget spent. But with the film’s negative review and response, the wait for a hit might still continue for Varun Tej.

Varun Tej last solo hit was Gaddalakonda Ganesh which released 5 years ago. After this, he had back to back disasters in the form of Ghani, Gandeevadhari Arjuna and Operation Valentine. He also had F3: Fun and Frustration also starring Venkatesh which was a decent performer at the box office. So, he now hoped of making a big comeback with Matka and portrayed various aged looks in the film as well.

But Matka may not even sustain till the weekend as it seems. On the other hand, there is also Kanguva starring Suriya which released today as well. Kanguva too received poor and negative reviews slamming the output of the film by the fans and audience. Still Kanguva would draw the majority of the audience to its side impacting Matka more. So, we have to see how Matka fares in its full run.
