The high court was hearing a petition filed by actor Navdeep in the drugs case on Wednesday. The actor faced a major setback as the High Court dismissed his petition. The police told the high court that Navdeep had drug cases against him in the past as well. Navdeep’s lawyer Siddharth, however, mentioned to the court that Navdeep was not an accused in the drug cases that happened in the past. It was brought to the notice of the court that Navdeep had appeared before the investigating agencies in the past as well.
Navdeep’s lawyer informed the court that he had nothing to do with the Madhapur drugs case. However, the court dismissed Navdeep’s plea, and it directed the police to give notice to him under Section 41A of the Indian Penal Code in the case. The high court also directed the police not to arrest Navdeep and to issue 41 CRPC notices and interrogate him.
The police had recently arrested some people at a drug party held at the Press Living Apartment in Madhapur. A man named Ramachandra who is said to be a friend of Navdeep said to police that the latter had taken drugs with him. The Anti-Narcotics Bureau officials had earlier issued notices to Navdeep and asked him to appear for questioning. Navdeep has been named A29 in the case. Navdeep said he would respond to the notices and come for questioning. Navdeep then approached the high court.
Navdeep had filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking a direction not to arrest him as he had nothing to do with the case. The court directed the police not to arrest Navdeep until The 19th of this month. Navdeep’s case was heard in the high court once again after the expiry of the deadline given by the high court. Navdeep’s petition was dismissed by the High Court. The high court, however, directed the police not to arrest him and to issue 41 CRPC notices and interrogate him.
