Starring Priyadarshi and Niharika NM as lead pair supported by trio of Rag Mayur, Vishnu Oi & Prasad Behera as the friends gang in this buddy comedy film set against the backdrop of a fictional town named ” Junglipatnam”. The film’s promos so far promised a full-on laughter riot, generating strong buzz among audiences, so much so that many premiere shows have already sold out. Let’s check out what the review of the film is going to be after such a massive response for premieres.
Story
Set in the fictional town of Junglipatnam, the story follows VTV Ganesh, who plays a caste leader and aspiring politician desperate to secure an MLA ticket. Trouble begins when his daughter, played by Niharika NM, elopes with one of the friends in the Mithramandali gang, played by Priyadarshi. What follows is a chaotic yet comical journey as VTV Ganesh juggles around to find his daughter and protect his caste pride all while trying to save his political ambitions.
Performances
Niharika NM in her Telugu debut, does have a very limited screen time but does shine out through at some cases, her comic timing looks so absurd and out of the tone for the film’s tone. Satya, who ironically plays a character named “Important Character,” and Vennela Kishore as SI Sagar K. Chandra, a fun call back to Bheemla Nayak’s director delivers some of the film’s funniest moments. Their scenes are an absolute riot, carrying much of the film’s humor and keeping the audience entertained throughout at least wherever they were on screen. Their sequences were a complete riot on screen and shouldered the film with laughs here and there. However, Priyardarshi and the trio were completely off and everything they tried doing as comedy looked so forced in spite of the film being in a nonsensical humor zone. Anudeep KV’s cameo was really so bad he looked very much disinterested too on screen and underutilized.
Analysis
Director Vijayander S presents a same old routine buddy nonsensical comedy film that we have seen before but this time throws a satire on the caste and people. He tries to blend absurdity with satire, but the writing misses the mark and most of the time, the narrative falls flat. Though packed with jokes, only a few actually work and leave much of the humor very much forced and irritating at a point when actors are trying to do something but rather are just overusing or recreating the memes . Despite some genuinely funny moments which are already shown most of them in the trailer, the story comes off as uneven and repetitive backed by overstuffed meme references within the songs and haphazard editing. While the background score by RR Dhruvan worked most of the time and set a good comic tone of the film.
Positives
- Satya & Vennela Kishore Scenes
- Niharika NM Screen Presence
- Good Background score
Negatives
- Weak writing
- Editing
- Songs with Overstuffed Memes
- Lead’s Comic Timing
- Forced Comedy
- Irrelevant cameos
Verdict
The film aims to deliver laughs here and there but struggles to maintain its comic rhythm throughout. Flat writing and a weak screenplay make it a tiresome watch, with humor that often feels forced. Mithramandali ends up as an irregular comedy that tries hard to entertain but rarely succeeds
