The first look of Mahaveer Karna is out, and it confirms Raghava Lawrence in the title role, playing the legendary Mahabharata warrior Karna. The poster carries the line “Born A Hero, Destined A Legend,” giving fans their first proper glimpse of Lawrence in this larger than life avatar.
This poster answers a question that had been open since the project’s title announcement back in August, who would play Karna. With Lawrence now confirmed and unveiled in full royal war attire, complete with a sun emblem on his forehead nodding to Karna’s mythological origin as the son of the sun god Surya, the casting adds real star weight to what was already being billed as an ambitious, large scale project.
Mahaveer Karna is directed by Ramesh Varma and presented by Pen Studios’ Jayantilal Gada, alongside RV Studios and Sri Neeladri Productions. The film is described as an epic hybrid live action project, a first of its kind format for Indian cinema, and will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
When the title was first announced, the makers had confirmed a worldwide release date of December 4, 2026. This new poster, however, lists the release simply as 2027, without a specific date, indicating the film has moved out of its original window. No reason for the shift has been given yet.
