Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger might have been a washout in the Telugu states, but it has been holding slightly better in Hindi. The film opened to negative reviews and poor word of mouth all over and the occupancy rates also were not encouraging for the makers.
Despite the negative talk, Liger opened well enough in the Hindi market with Rs 5.75Cr nett including premiers. On Day 2, the movie held good and collected Rs 4.5Cr nett. The 2 days nett has crossed the double-digit mark which has been a pleasant surprise for Puri Jagannadh and co.
The Liger team might be disappointed with missing a massive opportunity at the Hindi market. If only the movie was slightly better in quality, this movie also could have been a big blockbuster in Hindi. The Hindi market has brought better returns than Telugu for movies like Sahoo and Pushpa. And something similar could have happened for Liger if only the execution was gripping enough.
The sports action drama also stars Ananya Pandey and Ramya Krishnan in key roles. Karan Johar and Puri are jointly producing the film. This much anticipated pan-India project was released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi as well as in Malayalam.
