Fans and colleagues in Bollywood are deeply saddened by the passing of legendary actor Dharmendra, who died in Mumbai at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday on December 8.
Popularly known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” Dharmendra had a remarkable career spanning six decades and acted in nearly 300 films. On the afternoon of November 24, an ambulance was seen leaving his residence, while several film personalities were spotted arriving at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu.
Filmmaker Karan Johar and many celebrities have already shared their condolences on social media. The exact cause of death is still unknown, but Dharmendra’s health had reportedly worsened since he was admitted to the hospital on November 1. His last film, Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, featuring Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat, will be released posthumously on December 25, 2025.
Dharmendra, whose full name was Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, was born on December 8, 1935, in Nasrali, Punjab. He entered the film industry in 1960 with the movie “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere” and became famous in the mid-1960s with films like “Phool Aur Patthar” and “Anupama.”
In 2012, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.
