Lokesh Kanagaraj announced a short film on the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) origin, and people are highly excited for this one. During the promotions of his upcoming film, Coolie, the director stated that the LCU origin film is all set to roll.
Lokesh is directing Superstar Rajinikanth for the first time with Coolie, and as the film is getting near to its release date (August 14th), the team has started promotions. During one of the interviews, the director gave an update about his universe.

“Right after Coolie’s Release, I’ll resume the work on LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) Origin. It’ll have all the connections for Kaithi and Vikram. It’s a 10-minute short film, but it has Anirudh’s music and Anbariv Masters’ work as well.”
Lokesh Kanagaraj has very big commitments in the next few years. Coolie is gearing up for release next month; on the other hand, his production film, Benz, which is connected to his universe, is on set with Lawrence as the lead.
Also, Lokesh Kanagaraj is debuting as the lead actor in Arun Matheswaran’s directorial, and he also announced a short film on LCU’s origin.
After all these, Lokesh will start Kaithi 2 shooting, which is likely to start from this year’s end or early 2026.
