In Cricket, there is a saying that class is permanent and form is temporary. Which means no one can undermine a player’s ability to play once he becomes successful and has a bad phase. The same can be said in the film industry. Often we see if any star Hero or Director goes through a series of flops, people will tend to write off them by saying their time is over.
The same has happened with Kollywood legends like Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan, legendary directors Mani Ratnam, Shankar. All these stars are regarded as the legends of Tamil cinema. However, with continuous failures, Mani Ratnam and Kamal Hassan lost their markets and everyone thought their time was over, and their market completely lost at the box office.
But with Vikram, Kamal Hassan gave a massive comeback, and it became an industry hit in the Tamil version. Also, with Ponniyin Selvan Part 1, Mani Ratnam delivered an all-time blockbuster. Superstar Rajinikanth was also in a bit of a bad phase and everyone said his time was over now.
But he gave a resounding comeback with his latest film, Jailer. The film is shaking the box office currently, and it is heading towards becoming an all-time blockbuster of Kollywood. Now only Shankar remains in this group and the trade believes he still has a good market and, having massive projects like Indian 2 and Game Changer in the lineup, even his comeback is also on the cards.
