Kingdom Weekend Numbers Underwhelm

Vijay Devarakonda’s Kingdom, despite its weekday release, had a thunderous response at the box office on the release day. The film registered the biggest opening in Vijay Deverakonda’s career, collecting an impressive ₹34 crore gross worldwide on its first day, setting a new personal benchmark.

The momentum carried into Friday (Day 2), where the film held reasonably well, managing to earn in double digits, giving rise to optimistic trade expectations. Analysts anticipated a strong surge over the weekend, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, with hopes that the film could reach its breakeven point by the end of the weekend itself.

However, the Kingdom’s performance over the weekend came as a surprise. Both Saturday and Sunday remained flat, with some areas even recording lower collections than Friday. This unexpected dip resulted in the weekend total falling short of initial box office projections and trade expectations.

Now, the film faces a challenging road ahead. With weekend trends not favoring the film, it requires strong weekday collections to recover and reach breakeven. But based on the current trend, that goal appears increasingly difficult. The coming days will be crucial in determining the box office fate of the Kingdom.
