Karthi’s much-awaited film Vaa Vaathiyaar (titled Annagaru Vostaru in Telugu) is scheduled to release in theatres on December 12, but just as the team prepared for its arrival, the financial hurdles emerged, which could disrupt its theatrical release.

Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film began production in 2023 but faced multiple delays due to financial problems. After several postponements, fans were relieved when Studio Green finally confirmed a new release date last week.

However, the situation changed suddenly when investor Arjunlal Sundardas filed a case against producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja, demanding repayment of ₹21.78 crore. Following this, the Madras High Court issued a temporary stay on the film’s release and instructed the producer to clear the dues before proceeding further. Until then, Vaa Vaathiyaar cannot be released in theatres.

With only one and a half days to release, Karthi’s film continues to face financial hurdles, as the producer has yet to settle the pending payments. With the High Court maintaining the stay, the producer must resolve the issue by tomorrow if the team hopes to release the film as planned this Friday.
