The first weekend box office performance of Rishab Shetty’s spiritual action drama, Kantara Chapter 1, is amazing, and the film smashes the record of Yash-Prashanth Neel’s KGF 2 in its homeland, Karnataka.
Karnataka is the only territory where Kantara Chapter 1 is performing better than KGF 2. The second part of KGF collected around 75 Cr gross for the opening (4 days) weekend, whereas Kantara chapter 1 has collected close to 80 Cr gross and set an all-time record.
To date, no film has collected more than 200 Cr gross in Karnataka, and we need to wait and see whether the prequel of Kantara can achieve that magical number.
