Kantara Chapter 1, directed and acted by Rishab Shetty, became the biggest grosser of this year with over 800 Cr gross collections, but it ends as a loss venture overseas, despite it creating many records at the box office.

The spiritual action drama did phenomenally well in South languages, while Hindi is decent in India and overseas, being disastrous.

Due to the the Hindi version’s terrible performance overseas, Kantara Chapter 1 ends up as a loss venture for the business valued. The film’s overseas gross will close around $12.5 million, while the breakeven is valued between $16 and $17 million, including the expenses.

Kantara Chapter 1 fails to replicate the mafic of KGF 2 Overseas

KGF 2 has collected around $27 million overseas, and there were expectations that the Kantara prequel will easily do $20 million with positive WOM.

The film gets positive WOM as expected, but somehow it did not create that massive anticipation for Hindi overseas audiences. For KGF 2 overseas, the Hindi version did extraordinarily well with more than 11M in collections, but Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 did not do even 1/3rd of that.
