Suriya’s Kanguva has been the biggest box-office disappointment of the year. Suriya and director Siva along with producer Gnanvel Raja had hoped the film would mark Kollywood’s entry into the 1000-crore club. Unfortunately, the film has failed to achieve even breakeven and is on its way to becoming the biggest disaster in Kollywood’s history.
Now, the film is getting ready for its OTT streaming. Kanguva will stream on Prime Video from 13 December in all South Indian languages. The film has done around Rs 105 Cr gross at the Box office, which is shocking for a film of this scale of business.
While Kanguva has been rejected by audiences all over for its extremely poor first half and lack of gripping narration, the film’s makers are claiming foul play. The movie team claims that targeted criticism and negativity hit the film severely. We need to now see whether the OTT response will be a better one or the same as theatrical response
Starring Bobby Deol, Disha Patni, and Yogi Babu among others, Kanguva box-office performance has been indeed a shock. Fans and trade circles had pinned high hopes on this fantasy action. Unfortunately, the film opened to poor reviews and unfavourable talk.
