Kanguva Effect: Karna Film Shelved

Suriya’s Kanguva has emerged as one of Kollywood’s biggest disasters ever. Even Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran which is in its 4th week now collecting more than Kanguva. Director Siva’s lack of vision, lackluster first half, and lack of engaging plot led to the film being a big box-office failure.

Kanguva was made on a huge budget and a lot of effort went into it. However, the collections from day 1 have been quite disappointing. Surprisingly, some of the other star-hero movies managed to post better numbers with the same word of mouth and reviews.

Kanguva is projected to sustain a loss of more than 150 crores overall. This is a big number and many analysts now term Kanguva to become the highest loss making venture in South India pushing down Radhe Shyam.

Due to this colossal failure of Kanguva, Suriya’s market is in big trouble. Filmmakers are now unable to take big risks on Suriya. Now the Bollywood buzz is that a film based on Karna which was planned for a long time and was planned with Suriya in titular role has been shelved due to budget issues. The film was planned as a multi-part project on a massive scale and budget but the plans for it have now been put off.
