Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD was a blockbuster at the box office. Despite receiving mixed reviews, it performed well commercially, grossing INR 1000 crore worldwide. Considering this, fans expected the second installment in the franchise to commence production soon.
Unfortunately, that is not happening. As the title reads, Kalki-2 will take a long time to go on floors since the project’s script and pre-production are not finished yet. In the meantime, Nag Ashwin will reportedly direct a stand-alone project.
AVM Productions, a prominent studio of Tamil cinema, is bankrolling this project. An official announcement regarding the same is already out, and needless to say, Prabhas fans are upset since both Salaar-2 and Kalki-2 are postponed. It must be seen how the ‘Rebel Star’ will tackle this setback.
