Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious rendition of the ‘Ramayana’ will star Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Ravana’s wife. She will star opposite Yash, who will play the formidable demon king. Mandodari, known for her wisdom and unshakable moral compass, is one of the epic’s most dignified characters, frequently pushing Ravana to follow the road of virtue.
There has been early speculations that Sakshi Tanwar would play this key role, particularly given her previous association with Tiwari in ‘Dangal’. However, sources have confirmed that Kajal recently passed her look test and has already began filming sequences set in Ravana’s Lanka.
This represents Kajal and Yash’s debut on-screen cooperation. Kajal’s most recent film appearance was in ‘Sikandar’ with Salman Khan. Namit Malhotra’s ‘Ramayana’ idea is being developed as a two-part tale. The first portion will be released at Diwali 2026, with the sequel following in 2027. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. DNEG, the VFX powerhouse, has signed on to provide cutting-edge images.
