Jr NTR has successfully undergone arthroscopic shoulder surgery at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, following an injury he sustained on July 27 while filming an action sequence for Dragon. A health bulletin issued by the hospital on August 12 confirmed that the procedure was performed by a team of orthopaedic surgeons led by Dr. R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi, along with Dr. Nithin Bejjanki, Dr. Madhusudan Rao and Dr. Srinivas Rao Surapaneni. The hospital stated that the surgery was completely successful and that NTR is doing fine.
The injury occurred during the shoot of Prashanth Neel’s Dragon, an ambitious pan-India project currently in production. Following the incident on Monday evening, NTR’s team confirmed the injury and announced that he had been advised to take complete rest. Medical evaluation subsequently recommended surgery, leading to Tuesday’s announcement that he would undergo the procedure. Doctors determined that arthroscopic surgery would facilitate a quicker and more complete recovery compared to conservative treatment.
Recovery Timeline and Dragon Impact
Following the procedure, NTR will begin a structured rehabilitation programme under medical supervision. According to the KIMS bulletin, doctors anticipate that the actor will return to his normal self within approximately two to three months from the date of surgery. The update will come as a major relief to his fans, who had been concerned since the injury was first reported in late July.
The recovery period will have implications for Dragon, which had paused production following NTR’s injury. The actor is expected to prioritise rehabilitation before returning to work, with his shooting schedule likely to be planned around medical advice. Pawan Kalyan recently underwent shoulder surgery in July for rotator cuff injuries and followed a similar structured recovery protocol.
