The Jailer 2 Telugu states rights deal is officially closed, with Naga Vamsi acquiring the rights for ₹45 Cr plus GST. This is turning out to be a very reasonable deal for Naga Vamsi, especially considering what the original film managed to do in the same territory.
The first Jailer had collected ₹85 Cr gross in the Telugu states on its own. Going by that number, Jailer 2 can comfortably achieve breakeven if it manages anywhere close to similar numbers, giving Naga Vamsi a fairly safe cushion on this investment.
A Crowded Release Pushed The Price Down
The deal closing below the makers’ original expectations comes down to the sheer competition lined up around the same period. The Paradise releases on September 24, Aadarsha Kutumbam follows on October 9, and then Jailer 2 arrives on October 15, with Ranabaali right behind it on October 16. With this much big-ticket competition clustered together, the makers had originally expected a minimum of ₹55 Cr plus GST for the Telugu states rights, but the crowded window ultimately brought the final price down to ₹45 Cr plus GST.
For Naga Vamsi, this works out as a genuinely good buy given the original film’s track record in Telugu states, even with a tough release window ahead. How Jailer 2 performs amid this competition will now determine just how good this deal turns out to be in hindsight.
