Jailer 2’s overseas rampage continues, and the Middle East is leading the charge. The Rajinikanth film has crossed $9 million in the region in 18 days, becoming the first Tamil film ever to reach this mark.

The Biggest Overseas Market
The Middle East has turned out to be Jailer 2’s biggest overseas territory. The UAE alone has brought in $6.29 million, and the rest of the GCC and Saudi Arabia have added strong numbers too.
That makes up nearly a third of the film’s overseas total, estimated at around $29 million.
First Tamil Film to Hit 7M, 8M and 9M
Jailer 2 has been breaking milestones one after another in the region. It was the first Kollywood film to cross $7 million in the Middle East, then the first to cross $8 million, and now it has become the first to cross $9 million.
Only the Third South Indian Film
With this, Jailer 2 is only the third South Indian film ever to cross $9 million in the Middle East.

Next Targets in Sight
Jailer 2 is now just about $0.66 million away from Empuraan’s $9.72 million. With the film still running, moving up to the No.2 spot looks very possible.
The big target after that is Baahubali 2’s $10.31 million, the all-time record for a South Indian film in the region. Jailer 2 would need around $1.25 million more to get there, and the coming weeks will show if it can get that far.
Records Everywhere
The Middle East milestone adds to Jailer 2’s huge list of records. The film has become Kollywood’s first ₹800 Cr grosser worldwide, the No.1 Tamil film in India, and the biggest Tamil film ever in Malaysia.
