Gokulam Movies have acquired the Kerala, Karnataka and North India distribution rights of the highly anticipated Jailer 2 for a record breaking price for a South Indian film
Excluding Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states, Gokulam Movies will present Jailer 2 across all other Indian states. This is possibly the first time a Kerala based distributor is handling the North India distribution of a Tamil film, marking a new kind of deal in the industry.
The distribution rights have reportedly been acquired for a whopping 60 crore.
Kerala’s Share in the Record Deal
Of the whopping 60 crore paid for the rights, Kerala is set to be around 20 crore on its own. This is a massive jump from the original Jailer, where Gokulam Movies had bought just the Kerala rights for around 6 crore back in 2023. The jump shows the kind of confidence the distributor has in Rajinikanth’s pull in the state alone.
Gokulam Movies has a strong history of distributing big pan India films in Kerala, including Jailer, Leo, Jawan and GOAT. With the original Jailer collecting around 57 crore in Kerala alone, the confidence behind this record price for Jailer 2 is well backed by past results.
