Jailer 2 is on the verge of making history in two more markets. The Rajinikanth film is closing in on the ₹100 Cr gross mark in both the Telugu states and Karnataka, a milestone no Tamil film has ever reached in either region.
A First for Kollywood
No Kollywood film has ever collected ₹100 Cr gross in the Telugu states or in Karnataka. Jailer 2 is now very close to becoming the first to do it in both.
Jailer 2 After 19 Days (Gross)
- Telugu States: ₹95 Cr (approx.)
- Karnataka: ₹93 Cr (approx.)
Telugu States: Just ₹5 Cr Away
In the Telugu states, Jailer 2 has collected close to ₹95 Cr gross in 19 days. The film needs about ₹5 Cr more to hit the ₹100 Cr mark, which would make it the first Tamil film ever to cross that number in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Karnataka: About ₹7 Cr to Go
Karnataka has been just as strong. Jailer 2 has collected close to ₹93 Cr gross in the state, and needs around ₹7 Cr more to reach ₹100 Cr. For a Tamil film, that’s a huge number in Karnataka.
Diwali Should Help Jailer 2
The timing looks good for Jailer 2. The Diwali festival arrives this weekend, and the holidays usually bring big crowds to theatres. With the film still drawing audiences in its third week, the festival boost could easily push it past ₹100 Cr in both markets.
The New Release Challenge
But there’s a catch in the timing too. This week, two big films arrive in theatres: Ramayana on November 5 and Suriya’s Scene on November 6. Both are expected to dominate the box office, and Jailer 2’s screen count will gradually come down as they take over.
With fewer shows, the film will have to depend on strong occupancy in the screens it keeps.
Can It Cross the Line?
That’s the big question now. The numbers are well within reach, and Diwali gives the film a real chance. But with screens shrinking, how well Jailer 2 holds against the new releases will decide whether it can make history in both states.
If it does, it will add two more firsts to a record run that has already made it Kollywood’s first ₹800 Cr film worldwide.
