Currently, Pan Indian films are being made by all industries, including Telugu. If there is more span in some stories, those films being shot in two parts. Rakta Charitra, Baahubali, NTR Kathanayakudu and KGF Series, Ponniyin Selvan have been released in two parts. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Prabhas’s Salaar will come in two parts. Recently, the makers of NTR’s ‘Devara’ directed by Koratala Siva have announced that the film will be released in two parts. But if we observe the trend of two parts, it can be said that It’s not the content, but budgets that are splitting single – part films into two parts.
Even for Baahubali Series, not only the content, but even the budget calculations demanded two parts as at that time the market dynamics did not suit the budget of Baahubali and the makers thought they cannot recover with a single – part film, so for the content and budget aspects Baahubali producers choose to make it as a 2 part film.
After this, the 2 part films started to be made continuously. For a few movies, the content demands multiple parts, but for the most of the films the budget demands 2 parts. Recently, we have seen for Indian 2 as they never had plans for 2 parts, but the budget went overboard, and even the footage is huge so they decided to go for a 2 part releases.
Now NTR’s Devara also announced 2 parts release and the makers said that the span of the film increased during the production stage, but the industry circles are saying because of the budget reasons makers made a single part film into two parts
Definitely audience will be excited about Sequels, but they will not have the same excitement and there is a massive risk around the sequels as if the audience do not get excited about part 1, then part 2 will not have any business or craze. We have seen the same situation for NTR Biopic, and even PS 2 performed lower than PS 1. Now recently Skanda and Peddha Kapu films have announced Sequels, but there is no chance for both these films as part 1 became failure at the box office.
