Pushpa star Allu Arjun was recently honored at an event in Delhi, and he remarked that after 20 years being in the movie business, it was the first time that he’d received an award in the north. Before the unanimous blockbuster hit film Pushpa, which went on to make over Rs 350 crore globally, he had created quite a good image via the Hindi dubbed versions of his Telugu hit films on YouTube channels, which made him very popular across the country.
But Pushpa’s box office success, which has been the biggest Indian hit of 2021 has cemented him as a Pan-Indian star undoubtedly.
In his speech at the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2022 awards, Allu Arjun spoke about the new wave of Pan-Indian films, and said, “Indian cinema, India Kabhi Jhukega Nahin (Indian cinema, India will never bow down).” This is a reference to the most popular dialogue from the movie Pushpa: The Rise.
Called newly an Icon Star, Allu Arjun received the Indian of the year award and became the first south Indian actor to do so. Hosted by CNN News18, the award was given by Honourable Minister Smriti Irani. Dedicating his award to covid warriors, the actor, who brought people back to theatres with Pushpa, called it a win for the Indian Cinema.
Allu Arjun went on to say that he’s been working in the film industry for 20 years now. And he has received many awards in the south, but this is the first time he’s ever receiving an award from the north so it’s very special for him. He also commented on the north-south divide and said that at the end of the day, Pushpa is an Indian film that was celebrated by the entire Indian country, and he’s glad to have serviced the entertainment industry with it.
The actor will now jump into production of Pushpa 2: The Rule, with returning director Sukumar and his co-star Rashmika Mandanna. Pushpa 2 will be made on a grand scale and the team is not going to compromise with even the smallest things, to reach the highest expectations from the audience.
