How Can The Producer’s Council Decide The Remunerations Of Pan-Indian Directors And Pan-Indian Actors?

The Telugu Film Producers Council has been the talk of the industry for a while now. They have constantly been conducting meetings to revive the theatrical market, but it has been of no use.

Now, the producers’ council is planning to cut off all actor remunerations and director’s remunerations as well. This is targeted at reducing the budget of the film to make sure the producer and distributor are safe.

But, in reality, the Producers’ Council is the main reason for these hard times in the industry. They have increased the ticket rates by huge numbers, not only for the biggies but also for the medium budget films. Due to this, audiences are disconnected and disinterested in small-scale movies.

At one point, the council also proposed the immediate release of OTT movies for money. It also worked during that time and they made a lot of profit. Now to counteract the losses, the council is planning on cutting the remunerations of actors and directors.

This is definitely a bad move as the industry will not accept such an erratic decision. Moreover, the remuneration of cast and crew is based on their fanbase as well as the amount of time they are willing to spend on the film. For example, actors like Vijay or Akhil are not huge stars but the amount of hard work they have put in for Agent and Liger demands a hefty remuneration.

When such is the case, how can a council cap the remuneration fee? It would be unfair if a director like Rajamouli who spends a minimum of 5 years on a project receives the same remuneration as a director who spends only 1 year.
