HIT 2 has finally hit the screens amidst great anticipation and positive buzz. The film’s trailer has managed to hype the film well and since the film is a part of an established franchise, the audience is eager to catch what’s in store. Adivi Sesh is known for his thrillers and while he’s not directing this one, his presence has certainly boosted the film’s chances. Let’s find out if the film can stand up to the hype.
Story: HIT 2 is a cat-and-mouse game between KD (Adivi Sesh) a cop with a rough attitude and a serial killer. The story starts with the murder of Sanjana- the first victim. However, there’s much more to it than what meets the eye. The game goes on as the murderer is on loose and there is certainly a link between all his killings. What is it? And will KD bring an end to this? This is what the movie unravels
Performances: Adivi Sesh looks great as a cop and does well in the action scenes. His ability to emote and perform in emotional scenes however still needs some work. Meenakshi Chaudhary plays the love interest of Sesh in the movie and such roles in a thriller warrant pretty little scope for performance. The rest of the cast including Tanikella Bharani, Rao Ramesh, Posani Krishna Murali are well cast and give the proceedings great shape.
Analysis: Tight screenplay and exciting moments are the biggest strength of any thriller. And HIT 2 gets these elements in the right dose. Apart from a few moments in the second half, the film carries momentum throughout and keeps the audience engaged. Sailesh Kolanu has stuck to the core of the script and hasn’t deviated much by going for the traditional commercial elements and this is why the movie stays exciting for the most parts.
Plus Points:
- Screenplay
- Production Values
- Adivi Sesh
- Casting
Minus Points:
- Mystery reveal
- Pre-climax portions
- Predictable in parts
Verdict:
HIT 2 definitely has its moments and could have been much better if the climax portions were handled well enough. Sailesh Kolanu has done a great job with the movie’s length and the characterizations of the cast. And some portions aside, it certainly is a great watch for the weekend.
