Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR has won the Oscar in the Best Song category. It had to beat the other nominees in the category, which included Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Pather Wakanda Forever), and This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once). Music director MM Keeravaani accepted the award with a Namaste.

As a result, the movie became the first song of any Indian production to win the prize. It is the second Indian song to win this prestigious award, after Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire won one in 2009 in the same category.

The Naatu Naatu craze was all over the Oscars today. At the very start of the ceremony, the audience saw a spoof performance when Jimmy Kimmel was driven off-stage by dancers performing the Naatu Naatu hook step.

The audience also saw an energetic performance of the song. Rahul Sipligunj and Kalaa Bairavaa did a live performance on-stage and even though Ram Charan and NTR did not perform, dancers took over the stage and set it on fire. Lauren Gottlieb was one of the dancers. The performance also received a standing ovation from the audience.
