Tollywood Director Harish Shankar and Actor Pawan Kalyan collaborated for their Ustaad Bhagat Singh long ago. The film was confirmed to be a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Theri starring Vijay. After this confirmation, Netizens and Fans expressed their dissatisfaction and even trended a hashtag #WeDon’tWantTheriRemake on X/Twitter. But Harish Shankar went ahead, and the film was later put on hold due to Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments.
Now, Pawan Kalyan has resumed the shoot of his current films. He finished the shoot of Hari Hara Veera Mallu and will also start OG soon. The shoot of Ustaad Bhagat Singh has also been announced to start soon today with a Poster. However, something looked peculiar on the poster. The Poster showed Harish Shankar getting the credit for Story and Screenplay along with Direction, which raised the eyebrows of netizens.
This gave rise to the speculation that the Director had dropped the remake plan of Theri and was coming up with his own story. But many wondered why this move happened, as Ustaad Bhagat Singh was always planned as a remake of Theri. So, it can be understood that the Director and the makers have moved away from this plan, fearing a bitter result at the box office. This happened for the Director’s previous film, Mr. Bachchan, which was a remake of Bollywood blockbuster, Raid.
Mr. Bachchan became a miserable failure at the box office and Harish Shankar seemed to have understood that it may not be viable to go ahead with Theri’s remake for Ustaad Bhagat Singh. And moreover, the official Hindi remake of Theri, Baby John, bombed at the box office, sending danger bells to Ustaad Bhagat Singh. So, the team must have arrived at a conclusion to stop the remake plan.
It is also speculated that the story had been changed, and few scenes that were shot earlier will be scrapped, and the team might start the shoot afresh. However, we don’t have any confirmation regarding this, and let’s wait for the team’s response.
