Vijay’s The GOAT was released worldwide on Thursday and while the film has got off to a resounding start in Tamil Nadu, GOAT Telugu has faced the exact opposite fate. The GOAT’s breakeven in the Telugu states is 40 Cr, but the first-day recovery is less than 10%. Even the advance bookings for today and the weekend are disastrous. The film may not recover 1/3rd of its business at this pace.
Mythri Movie Makers bought the film’s total Telugu state rights hoping Vijay’s current box office form to get them profits. Unfortunately, there was no buzz or anticipation for the film in AP and Telangana and this project is a big failure for them.
GOAT opened well in Tamil Nadu but coming to the Telugu version, Vijay’s brand did not work. Poor promotions and lack of any excitement among Telugu film lovers led to this disastrous result. GOAT Telugu has ended up as a big failure and a it needs a miraculous jump over the weekend and next week to save losses.
The GOAT also features Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashant, Sneha and Prabhudeva among others. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed tunes for this Venkat Prabhu that failed to strike a chord with audiences.
