GOAT Faces 70% Loss in Telugu and Kerala

Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated The GOAT was released last weekend amidst massive hype. The film is Vijay’s penultimate one before he steps into active politics, so every update about the film created a massive buzz. The film had a bunch of cameos and some surprising elements, which received great applause from the Tamil audience. However, the same can’t be said about other states.

GOAT has done extraordinarily well in Tamil Nadu and overseas. In Karnataka and North India, the film did decent to good collections. However, in Kerala and Telugu states, GOAT has been a disaster. Such contrasting collections from various territories has surprised many.

The film has suffered huge losses in Kerala and Telugu states. In AP & Telangana, the breakeven is at 40 Cr gross and this Venkat Prabhu film managed to collect just 9 Cr. The film has a steeper hill to climb in Kerala as the breakeven is at 45 Cr and it has managed to collect around 11 Cr.

The recovery in less than 1/4th and surprisingly, GOAT has failed to cross even Leo’s day 1 collection in both states. With the weekend gone, the film is projected to struggle even more and the buyers in both these regions are expected to face up to 70 % losses.
