Ajith’s Thegimpu is another biggie releasing for Sankranti alongside Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy, and Varasudu. The recently released trailer has created massive expectations for the movie and the TN bookings and US pre-sales for Thunivu are going well as expected. However, it’s the Telugu bookings for Thegimpu that is a presenting a worrying sign for the makers.
Ajith’s Thegimpu is releasing solo advantage release on January 11th on huge numbers of screens. Despite this, the bookings are disastrous and even in famous theatres the tickets are not selling well.
In Hyderabad, the movie will be having a total of 382 shows and the total city gross stands at Rs 45,73,510.00 at a rate of just 14.91 % occupancy which is really poor for a star of Ajith’s stature.
In fact, many shows are getting canceled due to bad bookings. Now everything depends on the walk-ins and a lot depends on the premiere’s talk and solid word of mouth is crucial now for the movie to hold the theatres on festival days.
H Vinoth has directed this heist action drama while Boney Kapoor produced it. Thunivu/ Thegimpu marks the third collaboration between Ajith, Vinoth, and Boney Kapoor. Prior to Thunivu, the trio worked in Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai. Apart from Ajith Kumar, the film features Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, and John Kokken in key roles.
