Dhurandhar, the spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, was expected to be a solid hit for Ranveer Singh with massive openings at the box office. But the film’s bookings are not up to the expectations.
The film’s teaser raised big anticipation, and the trailer was also good. The trade expected massive openings for Dhurandhar with a minimum of ₹40 Cr+ net in India. There were comparisons with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal as well.
The film’s initial bookings surprise everyone. The Censor Report expressed concerns regarding the film’s lengthy runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes, besides a 4-minute post-credits sequence. This prompted doubts about whether the film would resonate with its audience.
Looking at the ticket bookings, even a ₹25 Cr opening now looks like a very tough task for the film, and Ranveer Singh’s not-so-dominant form as a lead hero seems to have affected the buzz. Currently, the Bollywood trade predicts a net opening between 15 and 20 Cr for the spy thriller.
Ranveer Singh takes the lead in the film, which boasts a star-studded cast featuring Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The cast also includes actors Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
The film features Aditya Dhar as the writer, director, and co-producer. Aditya Dhar, in collaboration with Jio Studios and B62 Studios, oversees the production, supported by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. The film features cinematography by Vikash Nowlakha and editing by Shivkumar V. Panicker. Shashwat Sachdev composed the music and score.
